It is no surprise that university and college campuses are a place used to indoctrinate the uninformed into radical left-wing ideologues. My early days at the University of Ottawa was no different as I had to quickly find my intellectual footing to deal with the nonsense that was pushed by students and teachers alike. Whether it was the mental midgets in the Introduction to Politics weekly discussion group who declared that the United States of America was to blame for the September 11th attacks, or an overpaid and undereducated professor of History of the Vietnam Wars who told me first hand accounts of North Vietnamese Re-education Camps was a biased source (does it surprise anyone that she protested the Vietnam War in her youth?), I have always found myself in intellectual conflict with those who would seek to radicalize myself and my fellow students. It has never been a fight I have been unwilling to fight, matter of fact, I have created this blog to continue my own personal fight to educate these uneducated individuals, so when this ugly beast rears its head, I don’t shy away from voicing my opinion. When I stepped off the bus today on campus, the next battle in this ideological war begun…
As I stated in previous posts, I am now a students at the University of Carleton. Since my brother finished a History degree here, and having experienced the deficiencies of Ottawa University’s History program, I felt the move from one school to the other would benefit me. Certainly there are differences between both campus, one being size and location, but ideologically, they are very much the same. Walking towards the University Centre, I saw a number of posters for the “Anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution” which took place last week. Not only did individuals from the Cuban Embassy attended and gave speeches, but Oliver Stone’s Comandante was shown. More than anything, this is a perfect example of how political radicalism operates. I doubt that anyone at this event discussed the economic turmoil that is still gripping the country, which includes the rationing of basic supplies like toilet paper, or the poor conditions faced by Cubans seeking medical treatment in the Communist country, something which recently claimed the lives of twenty-six patients at a mental institution. These are the realities you won’t find in a documentary by either Oliver Stone or Micheal Moore.
There is nothing triumphant about the Cuban Revolution, no matter what these ideologues say. The overthrow of Fulgencio Batista, a corrupt dictator who was linked to American organized crime, brought Fidel Castro to power, a tyrant who’s brutality far overshadows his predecessor’s. With the assistance of Che Guevara, one of history’s worst mass murderers, the Castro regime killed thousands upon thousands of “dissidents” and “anti-revolutionaries”. Matter of fact, Che has been compared to Nazi Germany’s Heinrich Himmler and Soviet Russia’s Felix Dzerzhinsky because he was Fidel Castro’s chief executioner, personally ordering the execution of 1,897 Cubans. Even after solidifying power for Fidel, Guevara’s own blood lust drew him to continue his revolution through to Congo and from there Bolivia, where he was finally captured and executed. I could discuss that the Cuban Peso, which was historically on par with the American Dollar, was near worthless only a few months after Castro’s rise to power, I could discuss the economic ruin brought to the country when Batista was thrown out, including the tourist industry which had been dependent on the businesses run by the Mob, but the brutality directed at the Cuban people should be enough to convince all but the most devoted drones that the Cuban Revolution was anything but triumphant.
It isn’t only this that caught my attention, however, because right beside the posters for that event were posters for Angela Davis. Those not familiar with her should know that she is a political radical along the lines of William Charles “Bill” Ayers, a fugitive who escaped justice due to a series of technicalities and the assistance of Ramsey Clark, a skilled defense attorney who has since represented the likes of Slobodan Milosevic and Saddam Hussein. There is no doubt in my mind that she is guilty of the kidnapping and murder of Judge Harold Haley, especially since the weapon used to murder him was registered to her, this on top of her past affiliations with groups like Jim Jones’ Peoples Temple, and the Black Panthers. Her present involvement in the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism (CCDS) and Critical Resistance, a group dedicated to dismantling the prison-industrial complex, also tells me that Davis is still very much dedicated to the radicalism she espoused in her youth. Michelle Malkin recently pointed out that individuals like Angela Davis are the figureheads of the continuing anti-police/black nationalism radicalism movement still gripping African-American communities, and I would think that this fact alone would keep schools like the University of Carleton from inviting them to speak, but it doesn’t. This isn’t the first time though that this radical has been to Carleton’s campus. Actually, Davis’ speeches have become and annual event at the university. To think this is what Canadian taxpayers are helping to fund…
One would hope this nonsense would happen only at schools like Berkeley College or Concordia University, but this kind of political radicalism is becoming all too common on college and university campuses. Even with the fall of the Soviet Union and the shift towards capitalism by the People’s Republic of China, one would think that eventually this kind of political thought would have become extinct, but it still being espoused by students and professors that should know better especially those in the history department. Those not smart enough to recognize this radicalism for what it is are the ones buying tickets to these events, ensuring that the likes of Angela Davis, people who’s stupidity and lack of basic understanding are still welcome within institutions which should stand in opposition to their idiocy…
Carleton goes communist and instead of teaching people the truth about this ideology, the school is more than happy to celebrate this nonsense… Pathetic…
