I tore into Michael Shapcott for his comments about punishing someone for thinking and feeling a certain politically incorrect way, and now Marianne Meed Ward, the newly elected city councillor for Burlington’s Ward 2, has decided to dictate what kind of reactions people are and are not allowed to have. Here’s the video courtesy of SDAMatt2…
Once again, what a very “Orwellian” thing to say. I hope the people in Ward 2 now understand what kind of councillor they have elected. Even Michael Coren was taken aback by how radical Marianne’s opinion on this was. So, what does this video show? Aside from her apparent desire to fulfill her “1984″ fantasies, Marianne proves to the audience that she is a bold-faced liar. The reason there was such an uproar about Juan Williams being fired for his comments is because everyone has, at one point or another, been in that situation. After the September 11th attacks, everyone felt this way. The world, not simply the United States of America, was given a look at the true nature of Islamic fundamentalism and it was terrifying. Even understanding that the majority of Muslims were not responsible for these acts of terrorism cannot make someone somehow immune to these kinds of reactions. Instead of being honest, instead of admitting that she herself has been in this situation, Marianne repeats the nonsensical far-left talking points about how one mustn’t think or feel this way, demonstrating that she seriously lacks integrity. It would have been nice if voters in Burlington’s Ward 2 could have seen this side of their newly elected city councillor before the casting their ballots.
As for understanding, Marianne demonstrates she has none. She refuses to accept any proof that Islam isn’t the “religion of peace” many on the far-left claim it to be. Instead of criticizing National Public Radio (NPR) for its rabid partisanship, she instead attacks Williams for not thinking the way she supposedly does. Once again, even with Juan explaining his thoughts on those feelings, explaining to Bill O’Reilly that not all Muslims are Islamic extremists, the fact that he even dared to admit that he was uncomfortable around those who make a concerted effort to display, through the way they dress, that they adhere to fundamentalist teachings, makes him deserving of severe punishment according to the newly elected city councillor. Despite the thousands of terror attacks and the thousands killed in the name of Islam since the Twin Towers fell, the majority of which are Muslims themselves as Tarek Fatah pointed out earlier this week, despite all the pain and suffering inflicted by those who strictly adhere to the more violent teachings of the Qur’an, Marianne refuses to accept that the fiction she believes isn’t fact. If she had to accept the truth, she might end up having the same politically incorrect thoughts and feelings which Williams was honest about on Fox News. I guess she is hoping this city councillorship will lead to bigger things, like a position as a political commentator at NPR eh?
Once again, we see the intolerance of the far-left. Like those at NPR and Michael Shapcott, Marianne Meed Ward can’t accept thoughts or feelings which are contrary to hers. Politically correct or not, such intolerance is not acceptable, especially from elected officials. Here’s hoping that her time in public office is short because I pity those who would have to put up with her lunacy for any significant length of time.
P.S. As you can see at the start of SDAMatt2′s video, Canada’s very own outspoken blogger, Blazing Cat Fur, is being sued by Richard Warman for $500,000. He could really use donations for his defense and I hope my modest readership, be it Canadian, American or otherwise, would donate a small amount of money to help him. If Blazing Cat Fur’s freedom of speech can be threatened like this, so can ours… Depressing…
